Some general information about myself. I was born on the last day of the year in 1977, in Springfield, Oregon. I graduated from Marist High School in 1995, and then went to Loyola Marymount University (LMU), in Los Angeles, CA. At LMU, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Spanish. I obtained a varsity letter in Water Polo as well and have been playing polo since I was 12. I then went to the University of Utah, where I earned my Ph.D in 2004 and stayed on a couple years. I moved to Vanderbilt University in in Nashville TN in June of 2006 where I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Roger Colbran.
While at Vanderbilt I have continued my involvement with waterpolo. In addition, I have been active in both the vanderbilt postdoctoral association, serving as the junior co-chair (2006-7), senior co-chair (2007-8), and senior advisor (2008-9), as well as the national postdoctoral association, having been elected to the board of directors (2010-2011).
Please feel free to browse though my poetry, pictures, information on my work, or my CV. Cheers all,
A.J.
